Rwandan music producer and singer Rene Niyitanga, popularly known as Yeweeh, has submitted his work for consideration in the first-round ballot for the 2027 Grammy Awards.
He joins fellow Rwandan artists Nel Ngabo and Ariel Wayz, who have also submitted their music for consideration in the prestigious awards.
Yeweeh submitted his song “Dizaya” in the Best African Music Performance category and his album “Sugarboi” in the Best Global Music Album category.
Speaking to InyaRwanda, Yeweeh said his submissions were made through Kauris Music, a music company based in the United States.
He becomes the latest Rwandan artist to enter the process, following Nel Ngabo, who submitted “Masterpiece,” a collaboration with Ugandan singer Elijah Kitaka, and Ariel Wayz, who submitted “Waiting,” featuring Kenyan artist Bensoul.
Submission to the Grammy Awards means the works have entered the review and selection process for potential nominees. However, it does not guarantee that the artists will be officially nominated.
First-round voting for the 2027 Grammy Awards is scheduled to take place from October 12 to 22, 2026, with the official nominees set to be announced on November 16, 2026.
