The Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has confirmed 11 clubs for the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup, which will be hosted in Rwanda from July 24 to August 8.

The tournament will be staged at the Amahoro Stadium and Kigali Pelé Stadium, bringing together top clubs from across East and Central Africa ahead of the new CAF inter-club season.

Rwanda will be represented by APR FC and Rayon Sports FC, with Tanzania’s Simba SC making a return after several years away from the competition.

Other confirmed teams include Uganda’s Vipers SC, Kenya’s Gor Mahia FC, Sudan’s Al Hilal SC and Al Merreikh SC, Somalia’s Mogadishu City Club, South Sudan’s Jamus SC, Djibouti’s FC Garde Républicaine, and Zanzibar’s KVZ FC.

According to CECAFA, the tournament will feature strong regional competition and serve as preparation for clubs ahead of continental CAF tournaments.

The Kagame Cup, one of the region’s oldest club competitions, has previously been dominated by Simba SC, which has won it six times, while APR FC remains Rwanda’s most successful club in the competition with three titles.

This year’s edition will mark another major regional football event hosted in Rwanda, further strengthening the country’s role as a key hub for East African football.
