Twenty-six personnel from Rwanda’s security institutions have completed a senior defence management course at the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Command and Staff College in Musanze.
The programme was delivered in two phases, beginning with online instruction from 1 to 12 July 2026, followed by a residential component at the college from 13 to 23 July 2026.
Participants were drawn from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), Rwanda National Police (RNP), Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS), National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS), as well as the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The course was designed to strengthen participants’ skills in leadership, strategic planning, resource management and decision-making, equipping them to effectively manage defence institutions and military operations.
It also prepares senior personnel to oversee defence organisations, coordinate military operations and manage resources effectively in both peacetime and during armed conflict.
The training marked the third edition of the senior defence management course organised by the RDF Command and Staff College in partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), reflecting ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership and institutional capacity across Rwanda’s security sector.
