Atlético Madrid defender Robin Le Normand has described his visit to Rwanda as a memorable experience after touring some of the country’s leading tourism and conservation sites under the Visit Rwanda promotional programme.
Le Normand, currently in Rwanda as part of a promotional initiative linked to the country’s partnership with Atlético Madrid, visited Akagera National Park, one of Rwanda’s flagship safari destinations known for hosting the “Big Five” wildlife species.
He arrived in Rwanda on June 15, 2026, on a visit aimed at showcasing the country’s natural beauty and strengthening international visibility of its tourism sector.
The visit highlights the growing partnership between Visit Rwanda and Atlético Madrid, a multi-year agreement running until 2028 that places Rwanda’s tourism brand on the club’s kits, stadium branding, and digital platforms.
Born in France but representing Spain at international level, Le Normand is regarded as one of Europe’s top defenders and played a key role in Spain’s UEFA Euro 2024 triumph as well as their UEFA Nations League success in 2023.
During his stay, he also visited Volcanoes National Park and the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Gisozi, where he was introduced to Rwanda’s history alongside its conservation and development journey.
