The FPR-Inkotanyi political organization has joined the Liberal Party (PL) in mourning the death of Senator Mukabalisa Donatille, the party’s president, who passed away on July 30, 2026, after an illness.
In a condolence message issued on July 31 and signed by FPR-Inkotanyi Secretary General Amb. Christophe Bazivamo, the ruling party expressed sympathy to PL members and Mukabalisa’s family.
“FPR-Inkotanyi extends its condolences to members of the Liberal Party (PL) and, in particular, to the family of Honourable Senator Mukabalisa Donatille,” the statement said.
FPR-Inkotanyi described Mukabalisa as a dedicated public servant whose contribution to Rwanda’s development would continue to be remembered, highlighting her leadership as Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies and her later service as a senator.
The organization also sent condolences to her relatives, friends, colleagues and others who worked alongside her during her public service career.
The National Consultative Forum of Political Organizations (NFPO) also expressed its condolences to PL and Mukabalisa’s family, describing her death as a loss to the country’s political community.
In a statement signed by NFPO spokesperson Senator Dr. Frank Habineza, the forum said it received with deep sorrow the news of Mukabalisa’s death, noting her role as president of the Liberal Party.
Mukabalisa passed away after a period of illness during which she was receiving treatment at King Faisal Hospital. Her death was announced on the morning of July 30.
She had served as a senator since 2024 and previously served as Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies from 2013, becoming one of Rwanda’s prominent female political leaders.
