Gicumbi FC has announced that it will begin pre-season training on Monday, July 20, as the club prepares for the 2026/27 Rwanda Premier League campaign, while also unveiling a new logo as part of a broader identity refresh.

The Northern Province-based club said the first training session will be held at the newly completed Gicumbi District Stadium and will bring together all contracted players, alongside invited trialists looking to earn a place in the squad.

In a statement released on Thursday, July 16, Gicumbi FC welcomed its players back and assured supporters that the club would continue working to build a competitive team capable of delivering improved results in the season ahead.

The club also introduced a new logo that will replace its previous emblem. The redesigned badge incorporates elements associated with Gicumbi’s heritage and landscape, including a cow, mountains, tea plantations and terraced fields.

The announcement comes as Gicumbi enters its second season in the top division after securing promotion back to the Rwanda Premier League. The club finished 12th out of 18 teams in the 2025/26 BK Pro League season.

During the campaign, Gicumbi won 10 matches, drew eight and lost 16 in 34 league games. The team scored 38 goals and conceded 54, finishing the season with 38 points and a goal difference of -16.

The club will start the new season under head coach Afahamia Lotfi, who was appointed on a two-year contract following the departure of Justin Bisengimana, who joined AS Kigali at the end of the previous campaign.

Gicumbi has not yet made major signings in the transfer window, but several players have already left the club. Defender Rubuguza Jean Pierre joined APR FC, while midfielders Djuma Intibazonkiza and Jean Petit Nzeyimana signed for Sunrise FC.

With a new coach, a new logo and preparations underway, Gicumbi FC will be looking to build a stronger campaign in the 2026/27 season.
