Gorilla FC stepped up preparations for the 2026/27 Rwanda Premier League season with a 2-0 victory over Kigali FC in a pre-season friendly at Kigali Pelé Stadium on Wednesday.
Chancellor Ndong Mengue put Gorilla FC ahead before Sunday Inemesit Akang doubled the lead to secure the win.
The match brought together officials from both clubs, with Gorilla FC president Hadji Mudaheranwa Yusuf and Kigali FC vice-president Uwimana Clarisse among those in attendance.
The result also marked a positive response for Gorilla FC following their 2-0 defeat to Sudanese side Al Ahly Wad Madani SC in their previous friendly.
Meanwhile, Kigali FC head coach Bisengimana Justin addressed the situation of former APR FC players Ruboneka Jean Bosco and Niyomugabo Claude, who are currently training with the club after leaving the reigning champions at the end of their contracts.
Bisengimana clarified that the two players are only training with Kigali FC at this stage and that the club has not opened negotiations with them over potential transfers.
Gorilla FC will begin its 2026/27 Rwanda Premier League campaign against Kiyovu Sports, while Kigali FC will face Marine FC in its opening fixture.
