The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) on Tuesday hosted a delegation of 23 student officers from India’s Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) at its General Headquarters in Kimihurura as part of a week-long study visit aimed at strengthening professional military exchanges and fostering deeper bilateral cooperation.
The delegation is in Rwanda from June 1 to 6, 2026, undertaking a series of engagements to gain insights into the country’s security architecture, military transformation, and contributions to regional peace and stability.
During the visit, the officers received a comprehensive briefing on the RDF’s evolution into a professional and capable force, highlighting its institutional development, operational readiness, and commitment to excellence in military service.
The presentation also underscored the RDF’s role in promoting peace and security through regional and international peace support operations, as well as its contribution to maintaining stability across the region.
The visit reflects the growing defence and security cooperation between Rwanda and India, whose longstanding bilateral relationship is anchored in eight cooperation agreements spanning sectors such as security, agriculture, livestock development, industrial park development, and other areas of mutual interest.
The study tour provides an opportunity for both countries to strengthen mutual understanding and exchange experiences on military professionalism, leadership, and regional security challenges.
