President Paul Kagame is expected to travel to Botswana in early May for an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, with a focus on trade and investment.
According to Botswana’s Presidency, the visit will take place from May 6–7, 2026, in the capital, Gaborone.
Ahead of the trip, both countries will hold the second session of the Botswana–Rwanda Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation (JPCC) on May 4–5. The meeting will assess progress in implementing existing agreements and identify new areas of collaboration, including trade, investment, education, and technology.
The visit is expected to further cement ties between Rwanda and Botswana, with officials pointing to opportunities to expand economic cooperation and share governance experience.
Analysts say the engagement could unlock new partnerships, particularly in boosting intra-African trade and investment between Central and Southern Africa.
