The Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has arrested four individuals, including the former head of Rubengera II Technical Secondary School (TSS) in Karongi District, two former school accountants, and a cheque signatory, over allegations of embezzling public funds.
The suspects are accused of embezzlement of public resources, misuse of funds for unintended purposes, and abuse of office for personal gain.
Preliminary investigations indicate that more than Rwf 226.7 million was misappropriated.
RIB confirmed that the suspects are currently detained at its Bwishyura station as their case file is being prepared for submission to the Prosecution.
The bureau has warned officials handling public resources to strictly comply with financial management laws, stressing that such violations harm citizens, undermine service delivery, and are punishable under the law.
