Mimi Mehfira, the wife of Rwandan singer Ngabo Medard Jobert, popularly known as Meddy, has responded to claims that she is responsible for her husband’s prolonged absence from releasing new music.
The speculation emerged after a follower questioned Mimi on Instagram, asking why she had allegedly stopped Meddy from making new songs.
Responding to the comment, Mimi dismissed the claims, saying she is also among the fans eagerly waiting for the singer’s new releases.
“Stopped him? I am also a fan, and I am waiting just like you are. Have faith that when he releases it, it will be nothing but fire,” Mimi replied.
Her comments came shortly after Meddy revealed that he is preparing to return with new music after taking a break from releasing songs.
In an interview with B&B Kigali FM, Meddy explained that his reduced activity in music was mainly due to family responsibilities, particularly his decision to spend more time with his children when they were still young.
“Entering a new phase of having children and becoming a parent changes everything because when a child is still young, they need you close. I wanted to be there for my children, but as they are growing, I am starting to have more time,” he said.
The singer added that he is currently working on several new songs and is also planning a concert, although he has not yet announced when it will take place.
Meddy’s absence from releasing frequent music has drawn attention from fans, especially after he shifted from secular music to gospel and worship songs.
Since making that transition, he has released three songs: “Grateful,” which marked the beginning of his new musical direction, “Niyo Ndirimbo,” a collaboration with Adrien Misigaro, and “Blessed,” released in early 2025, which remains his latest release.
Mimi’s response sought to reassure fans that Meddy is still committed to music and is preparing new projects for his audience.
