Rwanda’s Minister of Education, Dr. Joseph Nsengimana, has delivered a message from President Paul Kagame to Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama during an official visit to Accra, seeking support for Louise Mushikiwabo’s re-election bid as Secretary-General of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).
According to officials, the discussions highlighted Mushikiwabo’s leadership approach focused on results-driven governance, strengthened cooperation, and sustainable development across Francophone member states.
The talks also emphasized deepening bilateral cooperation between Rwanda and Ghana, particularly in promoting the French language and advancing quality education. Ghana recently attained full membership in the OIF, creating new opportunities for engagement within the bloc.
Both countries are among beneficiaries of an OIF-backed programme supporting the mobility of French language teachers, aimed at improving teaching standards and expanding Francophone expertise.
The visit forms part of Rwanda’s broader diplomatic outreach to rally support for Mushikiwabo’s candidacy, following similar engagements in other African countries, including Chad.
