Road construction in the Muhanga Industrial Park is in advanced stages, with authorities saying the works will ease the movement of people and goods and boost industrial activity.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry said the road network is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. The park currently hosts five operational factories, with another under construction, representing an investment exceeding $126 million and employing more than 1,000 people.
The government has called on private investors to seize opportunities in the park, which is part of four priority industrial zones under development, alongside sites in Bugesera, Musanze, and Rwamagana.
The Government of Rwanda has earmarked Rwf10 billion for the development of industrial zones in the 2025/26 fiscal year. Plans are underway to inject up to Rwf250 billion into these zones, which will cover 8,000 hectares and are projected to create over 25,000 jobs.
Under the second National Strategy for Transformation (NST2), the country aims to generate more than 63,000 industrial jobs by 2029.
Authorities say the expansion of manufacturing—particularly in essential goods—will help meet domestic demand, cut imports, and position Rwanda as a more attractive destination for industrial investment.
