Mukura VS&L have parted ways with newly appointed head coach Tomáš Trucha before he officially took charge of the team, after the Czech tactician requested to terminate his contract just days after arriving in Rwanda.
The Huye-based club announced on Monday that both parties had mutually agreed to end the contract before Trucha began work, despite having previously reached an agreement on a two-year deal. The club said the coach had fulfilled the obligations required under the agreement before the partnership was formally terminated.
Mukura has now resumed its search for a new head coach to replace Canisius Nshimiyimana, who recently left the club to join Amagaju FC.
In a video shared by the club, Trucha said the decision to withdraw from the deal was his, explaining that he had received another coaching offer that he found difficult to reject.
“I decided to withdraw from my contract with Mukura VS&L. It was not an easy decision to make, but I received an offer from another club, and sometimes such opportunities are difficult to decline,” he said.
The development comes just three days after Mukura announced the 53-year-old as its new head coach. Trucha had arrived in Rwanda on Sunday expecting to complete the final formalities before beginning work, but the two sides ultimately agreed to go their separate ways before he could officially assume the role.
A UEFA Pro Licence holder, Trucha most recently coached Indonesian side PSM Makassar. He has also managed Kenya’s AFC Leopards, Botswana’s Orapa United and Township Rollers, and previously served as assistant coach at Czech club Viktoria Plzeň.
