Former Miss Rwanda 2016, Mutesi Jolly, has threatened legal action against Ugandan musician Moses Ssaali, popularly known as Bebe Cool, accusing him of defamation and spreading false allegations on social media.
Through her lawyers from Mbidde & Co. Advocates, Mutesi issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding a public apology and retraction of the statements or face court proceedings.
The legal notice follows posts by Bebe Cool on X (formerly Twitter) on June 16, 2026, in which he alleged that Mutesi was involved in fraud and had misled him in a financial arrangement.
Her legal team dismissed the allegations as false, unsubstantiated, and damaging to her reputation, arguing that they amount to defamation and the spread of malicious misinformation.
They further stated that Mutesi Jolly has never had any personal, business, or professional relationship with the Ugandan artist, and rejected claims linking her to a phone number allegedly used in communications with him.
According to the lawyers, the number in question had previously been flagged in 2024 as being used by scammers impersonating public figures to defraud unsuspecting victims.
The legal notice also references an earlier public warning issued by Mutesi cautioning against individuals impersonating her online, saying the allegations should have been verified before being published.
Mutesi’s legal team demanded an immediate cessation of what they described as defamatory claims, along with a public retraction.
They warned that failure to comply within 48 hours would result in legal action seeking damages for reputational harm and cyber-related defamation.
In his posts, Bebe Cool claimed he had been misled by individuals allegedly linked to the Visit Rwanda campaign and referenced promises involving opportunities connected to Arsenal for his son.
Responding to the allegations, Mutesi urged the artist to verify information before making public accusations, given his influence and public status.
She maintained that she had no knowledge of the claims, suggesting she may have also been a victim of impersonation by scammers operating on social media.
