Rayon Sports FC has continued its squad rebuilding process with a focus on strengthening its international profile, confirming the signing of a new foreign defender on Tuesday evening, June 9, 2026.
The club announced the arrival of Charles Tchouplaou, a 25-year-old central defender from Chad who also features for the Chad national team.
Standing at 1.99 metres, Tchouplaou joins Rayon Sports from South African side Casric Stars FC, where he has played since January 2025. His career also includes spells at CR Bernoussi in Morocco, as well as Colombe Sport and Apejes FC in Cameroon.
His arrival marks Rayon Sports’ fifth signing of the current transfer window and the third central defender to join the squad during this recruitment phase. The club had earlier confirmed the signings of Matumona Wakonda, who joined from Amagaju FC, and Nshuti Didier, who arrived from Gorilla FC.
The new additions come amid ongoing uncertainty over several members of last season’s squad. Club captain Yousou Diagne has been in contract renewal talks after his previous deal expired, although negotiations are yet to reach an agreement due to financial disagreements.
Other players, including Ramazhan Tshimanga and Emery Bayisenge, are also still awaiting clarity on their futures as the club continues to prioritize new signings.
Rayon Sports is steadily reshaping its squad ahead of a demanding season, with pre-season preparations expected to begin at the end of June. The team is also preparing for the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup, which will be hosted in Rwanda from July 18 to August 9, 2026.
The ongoing transfer activity reflects the club’s ambition to build a more competitive and internationally experienced squad ahead of the regional tournament.
