Rwanda has paid tribute to Senator Mukabalisa Donatille, with national leaders, lawmakers, family members and friends gathering at Parliament to bid her a final farewell and honour her decades of service to the country.
The official funeral ceremony held at the Parliamentary Building recognised Mukabalisa’s contribution to Rwanda’s governance, political leadership and national development.
In a message from President Paul Kagame delivered by RPF-Inkotanyi Secretary General Amb. Bazivamo Christophe, Mukabalisa was remembered as a committed public servant whose values of integrity, humility and dedication shaped her leadership journey.
The message described her as a leader who consistently fulfilled responsibilities entrusted to her with commitment and a strong sense of duty, noting that her passion for serving the country earned her respect and trust from colleagues and citizens.
“Senator Mukabalisa Donatille was characterised by values that became a foundation for Rwanda’s progress, including integrity, humility, perseverance and commitment to her responsibilities,” the message said.
Representing the Liberal Party (PL), MP Munyangeyo Theogene described Mukabalisa as more than a party president, saying she was a mentor, adviser and leader who promoted unity, cooperation and a shared vision.
He said she left behind a strong legacy and initiatives that would continue guiding the party’s efforts to contribute to Rwanda’s development.
Senate President François Xavier Kalinda praised Mukabalisa’s contribution to public service, saying her work for the country, Parliament and the people she served would remain a lasting legacy.
He thanked those who attended the farewell ceremony and offered condolences to Mukabalisa’s family, assuring them of continued support.
Speakers at the ceremony highlighted Mukabalisa’s commitment, patriotism and selfless service, saying her life remains an example of leadership dedicated to national progress.
