Rwandan peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) have provided free medical services to residents of Diel area in Upper Nile State as part of efforts to support local communities.
The medical outreach was conducted on Monday by Rwandan troops working alongside their colleagues from the UNMISS Malakal contingent during a routine patrol operation along the Nile River and surrounding areas.
The exercise aimed to extend basic healthcare support to residents while strengthening engagement between peacekeepers and the communities they serve.
During the outreach, residents received medical consultations and treatment for common illnesses, malaria care, child health services, and health awareness sessions. Essential medicines were also provided free of charge.
The initiative highlights the broader role of UN peacekeepers in South Sudan, combining security responsibilities with humanitarian support to improve the well-being of communities affected by prolonged challenges.
