Rwandan peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) joined counterparts from Bangladesh, China, Ethiopia, and Nepal in a military ceremony marking the official handover of command at the mission headquarters in Juba.
During the ceremony, Maj Gen Junhui Wu was formally appointed as the new Force Commander of UNMISS, taking over from Maj Gen Robert Yaw Affram, who had been serving in an acting capacity following the completion of Lt Gen Mohan Subramanian’s tenure.
The event was presided over by Anita Kiki Gbeho, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in UNMISS.
The transition highlights continued multinational cooperation within UN peacekeeping operations, with contributing countries working jointly to support peace and stability in South Sudan.
