Rwandan-British international dancer Sherrie Silver has shared her excitement after meeting FIFA President Gianni Infantino during the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-final between England and Argentina in the United States.
Silver, who has been supporting England throughout the tournament, met Infantino at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, also known as Atlanta Stadium, where Argentina secured a 2-1 victory over England to book a place in the World Cup final.
England took the lead in the match, but Argentina fought back to win and end the Three Lions’ hopes of reaching the final.
Sharing a video of the moment she met Infantino on her social media platforms, Silver described the encounter as an emotional and memorable experience.
“Today was another day filled with emotions and joy after meeting FIFA President Gianni Infantino and watching my team win, although it ended in heartbreak,” she said.
Despite England’s defeat, Silver praised the team’s performance and expressed confidence that the country will eventually win the World Cup.
She said it had been one of her dreams to see England stars Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, and their teammates lift the trophy during the final scheduled for July 19, 2026.
The semi-final was not Silver’s first World Cup appearance in the stands. She had earlier watched the round-of-16 match between Spain and Portugal at Dallas Stadium, where Spain advanced with a 1-0 victory.
