Rwandan singer Mugisha Benjamin, popularly known as The Ben, has been named as Rwanda’s representative on a Globe Data list highlighting leading artists from 30 African countries.
The list features one artist representing each of the 30 countries, with The Ben selected to represent Rwanda.
The recognition adds to The Ben’s growing profile both in Rwanda and internationally, following years of releasing music that has attracted audiences beyond the country.
One of his internationally recognised songs is “Why,” a collaboration with Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz. Released in 2022, the song was also performed by the two artists at the Trace Awards 2023 in Kigali.
Another notable song in The Ben’s career is “Habibi,” released in 2016. The song remains among his widely recognised releases and continues to attract views on YouTube.
The Globe Data list also includes other prominent African artists, including Diamond Platnumz of Tanzania, Black Coffee of South Africa and Sarkodie of Ghana.
The Ben has continued to expand his regional and international presence through collaborations, live performances and music releases, making him one of Rwanda’s most recognisable contemporary artists.
