Rwandan peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), alongside members of the Rwandan community in South Sudan and international partners, gathered in Juba to commemorate the 32nd anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Held at the UN Tomping base in the capital, the event brought together Rwandan troops on peacekeeping duty, UN officials, representatives of the Government of South Sudan, and various UN-affiliated organizations in a unified act of remembrance.

The commemoration provided an opportunity to honor the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi while reflecting on its lasting lessons for the global community.

Participants also used the occasion to reaffirm a collective commitment to the fight against genocide and to ensuring that such atrocities never happen again.
