The President of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, who is in Rwanda for a three-day official visit, attended discussions aimed at exploring partnership opportunities between the two countries in investment, trade, tourism, and sports development.
The discussions took place on Saturday at Kigali Golf Resort & Villas, bringing together leaders from various sectors, including representatives of both governments.
On the Rwandan side, the meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Sports, the Minister of Environment, and the CEO of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB).
These talks come shortly after Rwanda and Senegal signed cooperation agreements in areas such as health, agriculture and livestock, correctional system management, national development, and the Vision 2050 framework.
After the signing ceremony, President Paul Kagame stated that the two countries share common values centered on the well-being of citizens.
He said: “Rwanda and Senegal share the same values of putting citizens first, providing solutions, and pursuing a clear and consistent path to development.
Our discussions today reaffirm our commitment to implementing these agreements.” He added:
“We also share the goal of achieving Africa’s self-reliance, driven by accountable leadership and inclusive development.”
President Diomaye Faye is expected to conclude his visit tomorrow, after which he will travel to Nairobi, Kenya.
