74 police officers retire from the Rwanda National Police

The Rwanda National Police has announced the retirement of 74 officers from active service.

According to a statement released on Tuesday, 2 December 2025, the list includes ACP Sam Rumanzi, who previously served as the National Coordinator of the District Administration Security Support Organ (DASSO).

He also held key leadership roles as Regional Police Commander for the Eastern Province and as the head of Rwanda’s police contingent on a peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic.

Also retiring is ACP Francis Muheto, the former Regional Police Commander for the Northern Province.

The announcement further notes that the group includes nine senior officers, 12 junior officers, and 38 non-commissioned officers.

In addition to those retiring, the force revealed that 13 officers were discharged for medical reasons, while two others were released for other administrative reasons.
