BPR Bank has joined the roster of sponsors for the 2026 Tour du Rwanda, strengthening support for Rwanda’s flagship international cycling event.

The partnership was announced on Sunday, February 8, during Kigali’s weekly car-free day, with the bank pledging financial and logistical support, including essential equipment for the race.

Patience Mutesi, BPR’s chief executive officer, said the sponsorship aligns with the bank’s commitment to promoting health, sports, and well-being among Rwandans.

“As BPR, we believe well-being depends on physical and mental health. Supporting sports is part of our broader mandate, and Tour du Rwanda is a key platform to promote active lifestyles,” Mutesi said.

Samson Ndayishimiye, president of the Rwanda Cycling Federation, welcomed the partnership, noting that increased sponsorship is critical to the growth and sustainability of cycling in Rwanda.

The 2026 Tour du Rwanda is scheduled to run from February 22 to March 1, traversing multiple districts across the country. Sixteen teams are set to participate, including four Rwandan teams: Team Rwanda, Benediction Club, May Stars, and Team Amani.

Fans and participants at the announcement said they are ready to support the race, which also serves as a platform to boost Rwanda’s tourism profile.
