Rwanda’s Prime Minister, Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva, joined fellow African leaders on Saturday, February 14, 2026, for the official opening of the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union Heads of State and Government in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The 2026 summit focuses on ensuring sustainable access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, key priorities under the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
Before the AU session, Prime Minister Nsengiyumva represented President Paul Kagame at a high-level Africa-Italy dialogue, where leaders reviewed progress under the Mattei Plan, Italy’s framework for political and economic cooperation with Africa.
Through the Mattei Plan, Italy has pledged over Rwf 71 billion to support Rwanda’s initiatives addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development.
On Sunday, February 15, the Prime Minister is expected to attend a meeting of the African Union committee tasked with addressing special issues in South Sudan.
