The Rwanda National Police (RNP) has sanctioned a foreign man who was filmed blocking a public road with his car, preventing other vehicles from passing.
The incident, which went viral on social media on Friday, March 6, 2026, sparked public outrage. Video footage showed the man parking his vehicle in the middle of the road and refusing to move, prompting calls from citizens for police action against this reckless behavior.
Through its official X account, the Rwanda National Police confirmed that the individual had been investigated and penalized for his actions. Authorities emphasized, however, that such misconduct is not exclusive to foreigners.
“Hello! This behavior is unacceptable. The person responsible has been sanctioned for their actions. But note, this conduct is not unique to any specific group of people,” the police statement read.
The video was originally shared on X by a user named J.E.F.F, who commented: “Our leaders, we respect and follow your instructions, but foreigners are difficult. Please help teach them proper behavior when they arrive in our country, especially at the airport. They should be fined because this is not acceptable in Rwanda.”
The footage sparked widespread discussion online, with many agreeing that the foreign driver deserved a strong penalty for deliberately obstructing traffic.
