The Association of Former Amavubi Players (FAPA) has called for an investigation following an incident involving national team players Djihad Bizimana and Thierry Manzi during post-match celebrations at Amahoro Stadium.

The two players were reportedly blocked by a stadium security officer from entering the pitch with their children after Rwanda’s 2–0 victory over Estonia to win the FIFA Series 2026 title.

Captain Djihad Bizimana is said to have been stopped at the touchline while attempting to celebrate with his child, only gaining access after intervention from another official. Thierry Manzi reportedly faced a similar restriction.

In a statement, FAPA condemned the incident, describing it as a breach of respect and professionalism towards national team players, particularly at a moment of national celebration.

The association stressed that players, as central figures in football, should be treated with dignity both on and off the pitch, and that such moments are significant milestones meant to be shared with family.

FAPA has urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and establish clear protocols to prevent a recurrence. It also called for greater emphasis on respect, professionalism and proper conduct among all stakeholders in the sport.

Rwanda’s triumph at Amahoro Stadium marked a historic milestone, with the Amavubi lifting the FIFA Series 2026 trophy in the tournament’s inaugural edition.
