The Government of Rwanda has renewed its call for citizens to decisively reject and combat genocide ideology, as national preparations intensify for the 32nd commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi.
The directive was issued during a Cabinet meeting held Wednesday at Village Urugwiro, chaired by President Paul Kagame. The meeting reviewed key national priorities, with a strong focus on readiness for the upcoming Kwibuka period.
In a firm resolution, Cabinet urged all Rwandans—at home and abroad—to actively denounce and resist genocide ideology in all its manifestations, warning of its persistent presence both locally and globally.
The government stressed that safeguarding national unity and reconciliation remains critical to sustaining peace and stability, noting that confronting divisive narratives requires collective vigilance and responsibility.
Cabinet also received a progress report on preparations for the national mourning week, scheduled from April 7 to 13, 2026, in Rwanda and across the diaspora. Institutions, civil society, and individuals were called upon to fully participate in commemoration activities and uphold the dignity of victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi.
