Police FC has confirmed the departure of seven players, including Rwandan winger Byiringiro Lague and six foreign players, following the expiry of their contracts.
In a statement released on Monday, June 8, via its official social media platforms, the club expressed gratitude to the departing players for their contribution during their time at Police FC. The outgoing group includes Ugandan midfielder Allan Kateregga, Burundians Richard Kilongozi and Henry Msanga, Nigerians Ani Elijah and David Chimezie, and Ghanaian defender Issah Yakubu.
Lague is the only Rwandan among the departing players. He joined Police FC in January 2025 from Swedish side Sandvikens IF on an 18-month contract, which has now expired.
The former national team winger is reported to have struggled to meet expectations during his spell at the club, with off-field issues said to have affected both his consistency and on-field performance.
He has previously stated that he does not intend to continue playing in the Rwanda Premier League, with reports suggesting a possible move to Tunisia following the end of his contract.
Meanwhile, Burundian defender Henry Msanga is reportedly attracting interest from Rayon Sports and could join the Kigali-based side ahead of the new season.
Police FC finished fourth in the 2025/26 Rwanda Premier League, falling short of its target of competing for the title. The club is now undergoing a rebuilding process ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Reports also indicate that up to eight additional players could leave the club, while no new signings have yet been announced.
