Prime Minister Dr. Nsengiyumva, representing President Paul Kagame, has assured African Heads of State and Government, as well as development partners, that Rwanda remains free of Ebola despite renewed outbreaks in parts of the region.
He made the remarks on Tuesday during a virtual high-level meeting focused on strengthening continental response strategies to the Ebola outbreak.
The Prime Minister said Rwanda’s Ebola-free status is the result of sustained investment in health preparedness and a robust disease surveillance system.
“We have reinforced screening and surveillance at all entry points, strengthened laboratory testing capacity, improved rapid response mechanisms, and intensified public awareness campaigns,” he said.
Following the resurgence of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda has stepped up preventive measures aimed at minimizing cross-border transmission risks. These include heightened monitoring at border posts and continuous nationwide public health messaging.
