Rwanda international Byiringiro Lague has agreed to join South African top-flight club Durban City FC after leaving Police FC.

The attacking player has reached an agreement with Durban City on a two-year contract, with the deal set to begin in the 2026/27 season.

Byiringiro is expected to fly to South Africa on August 7, 2026, where he will begin preparations with his new team.

The move follows Police FC’s decision not to extend his contract after one-and-a-half seasons at the club. He joined the Rwanda Police side in January 2026 after ending his spell with Swedish club Sandvikens IF.

During the 2025/26 Rwanda Premier League season, Byiringiro featured in 19 matches for Police FC, scoring five goals and providing one assist.

The 25-year-old forward has been regarded as one of Rwanda’s promising attacking talents, although his career has also been marked by off-field controversies that have occasionally drawn attention away from his performances on the pitch.

Durban City FC, founded in 1981, competes in South Africa’s Premier Division and plays its home matches at Chatsworth Stadium, which has a capacity of about 22,000 spectators.

The club returned to the top flight after earning promotion in the 2024/25 season. In their first campaign back in the Premier Division, Durban City finished eighth in the 2025/26 season standings among 16 teams.
