Rwanda international midfielder Bonheur Mugisha has completed a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hazem Saudi Club from Egyptian outfit Al Masry, taking the next step in his career by joining one of Asia’s fastest-growing football leagues.
The transfer also means the 26-year-old will compete in the same league as global football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for Al-Nassr.
Al-Hazem confirmed Mugisha’s signing on Sunday, August 2, through the club’s official social media channels, unveiling the Rwandan as its latest recruit. He will wear the No. 17 jersey.
Mugisha arrives in Saudi Arabia after an impressive season with Al Masry, where he helped the Egyptian club win the Egypt Capital Cup. However, the team narrowly missed out on a place in next season’s CAF inter-club competitions after finishing fifth in the Egyptian Premier League.
A regular fixture in Rwanda’s national team, Amavubi, Mugisha has steadily built a reputation as one of the country’s most consistent midfielders. His move to Al-Hazem marks another milestone in a career that has increasingly flourished across the Arab world.
Founded in 1957, Al-Hazem secured promotion to the Saudi Pro League last season and finished ninth in the 19-team top flight during the 2025/26 campaign.
The 2026/27 Saudi Pro League season is scheduled to begin on August 13, with Al-Hazem set to open its campaign against Abha.
Since departing APR FC in 2023, Mugisha has played exclusively in North Africa and the Middle East. His professional journey has included spells with Libya’s Al Ahli Tripoli, Tunisia’s AS Marsa and Stade Tunisien, and Egypt’s Al Masry before earning his latest move to Saudi Arabia.
