Gisagara Volleyball Club has lifted the suspension of middle blocker Muvara Ronald after he apologized for misconduct that led to a three-month ban from competitive matches.
Muvara was suspended after refusing to play a quarter-final match between Gisagara VC and Police VC during the 2026 Genocide Memorial Tournament (GMT), a decision that resulted in Gisagara losing the match by walkover and being eliminated from the competition.
Following the suspension, Muvara wrote to the club requesting forgiveness, admitting his mistake and pledging to improve his conduct.
In a letter dated July 31, 2026, Gisagara VC management said it had considered the player’s apology and decided to withdraw the sanctions.
“After reviewing your request, the management has decided to forgive you and remove all the sanctions imposed on you. Your suspension has been lifted effective August 1, 2026,” the club said.
The club said the decision was based on Muvara’s acceptance of responsibility and commitment to respect team rules and professional standards.
The decision was signed by Gisagara VC acting president Bizimana Potient, who assumed the role after Croatian president Tonći Tadić stepped down following his retirement.
The suspension had also affected Muvara’s chances of being considered for the Rwanda national team squad preparing for the 2026 African Volleyball Championship, scheduled for September in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Gisagara had also suspended setter Ngaboyintwari Cedric over the same incident. However, Ngaboyintwari did not apologize and instead requested the club to clear pending obligations before parting ways.
Muvara, who returned to Gisagara VC from REG VC a year ago, played a key role in helping the Southern Province side return to the playoffs after a two-year absence and win the 2025 BK Arena Volleyball Cup.
He previously featured for several Rwandan teams, including APR VC, and played for Rusumo High School during his secondary education.
