Kigali Football Club has appointed Bayingana Innocent as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), handing him responsibility for steering the club’s operations as it undergoes a major restructuring ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Bayingana moves into the top executive role after previously serving as the club’s General Manager, where he was responsible for its day-to-day operations.

Kigali FC announced the appointment on Monday, August 17, 2026, as part of a series of changes aimed at strengthening the club’s governance and management.

The appointment follows an extraordinary general assembly held on Sunday, August 16, which approved a number of structural changes.

One of the key decisions was the renaming of AS Kigali’s men’s team to Kigali Football Club, while the women’s team will operate as Kigali Women Football Club.

The assembly also elected Uwimana Clarisse as Vice President, replacing Kankindi Anne-Lise Alida, who stepped down from the position in July.

Nduwayezu Alfred, Urujeni Gertrude and Murekatete Patricie were also appointed to the club’s Supreme Organ.

Bayingana’s appointment comes as Kigali FC seeks to recover from a difficult 2025/26 campaign.

The club finished 14th in the 18-team Rwanda Premier League and spent much of the season battling to avoid relegation amid administrative challenges.

The women’s team suffered relegation to the second division, bringing an end to its stay in the top flight despite its history as one of the prominent clubs in Rwandan women’s football.

The new leadership will now face the task of rebuilding the club both on and off the pitch as preparations intensify for the new campaign.

Kigali FC will open its 2026/27 BK Pro League campaign on September 6 against Marine FC at Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu.
