Rwandan actor Niyonshuti Yannick, popularly known as Killaman, has publicly credited filmmaker Kanyabugande Olivier, better known as Nyaxo, with giving him the opportunity that launched his career in Rwanda’s film industry.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Killaman reflected on his journey into acting and said meeting Nyaxo was a turning point that gave him a platform to showcase his talent.
He praised Nyaxo for believing in him at a time when he was still trying to find his place in the industry, saying the opportunity he received has since helped shape his career and livelihood.
“Nyaxo, my boss, thank you for believing in me, trusting me and giving me a platform to showcase my talent,” Killaman said.
He noted that people sometimes forget those who helped them get started once they achieve success, urging people to remember and appreciate those who opened doors for them.
Killaman said Nyaxo’s contribution to his life is something he will continue to value, adding that he would honour him for giving him the opportunity that helped transform his life.
The actor has repeatedly acknowledged Nyaxo’s role in his career, particularly when discussing how he entered Rwanda’s film industry.
Killaman has since established himself as one of the country’s recognised film actors, featuring in a number of productions distributed through YouTube, including films and series.
Among the productions associated with him are My Heart, The Players, Stolen Love, Amaraso Yanjye, No Regret and Kwiyenza, among others.
Beyond his own career, Killaman has also provided opportunities for other emerging actors through his film projects, further expanding his influence in Rwanda’s growing digital film industry.
