Kagame, Macron discuss strengthening Rwanda-France tiPresident Paul Kagame met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris for talks on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between Rwanda and France.
The meeting was held at the Élysée Palace during Kagame’s visit to France, where he attended the International Space Summit.
According to Rwanda’s Office of the President, the two leaders discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation, as well as development issues and regional and global challenges.
The talks come as Kigali and Paris continue to build cooperation across several areas, including trade, justice, diplomacy and development.
Kagame attended the International Space Summit, which was co-hosted by France and Germany. The summit brought together heads of state and government, international organizations, space agencies, scientists and private-sector leaders to discuss the future of the space sector.
Discussions at the summit focused on the economic opportunities presented by the space industry, scientific research and innovation, and the sustainable use of space technologies.
During the summit, Kagame called for greater African participation in the global space economy, particularly through increased investment in research, science and technology and the use of space-based technologies to support development.
The meeting with Macron comes as Rwanda continues to position technology, science and research as key drivers of a knowledge-based economy and to expand international partnerships in these areas.
