A total of 209 Rwanda National Police (RNP) officers have completed a six-week specialized training programme focused on VIP protection, counter-terrorism operations in urban areas, crowd control and restoring public order.
The training concluded on Thursday, July 23, 2026, in a ceremony presided over by the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, CP Vincent Sano.
The programme was conducted at the Counter Terrorism Training Centre (CTTC) in Mayange, Bugesera District, under a partnership between the Rwanda National Police and Lekhwiya, Qatar’s security force.
The training aimed to strengthen officers’ operational capabilities in responding to complex security challenges, including protecting high-profile individuals, managing public disturbances, countering terrorism threats and maintaining safety in urban environments.
During the six-week course, officers received practical and theoretical training designed to enhance their preparedness, coordination and professionalism in handling security operations.
Police officials said the programme reflects ongoing efforts to improve the capacity of law enforcement personnel to respond effectively to evolving security threats while safeguarding public safety.
The newly trained officers are expected to apply the skills acquired in their duties and support national efforts to maintain peace, security and public order.
