APR Women Volleyball Club (APR WVC), Kenya Ports Authority (KPC WVC), APR VC, and Kepler VC have booked their places in the finals of the 2026 Genocide Memorial Volleyball Tournament (GMT) after intense semifinal clashes on Saturday.
The tournament, held in remembrance of victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, entered its decisive phase on June 20, 2026, with quarterfinal and semifinal matches played in both men’s and women’s categories.
In the men’s competition, APR VC edged REG VC in a thrilling five-set battle (31-29, 24-26, 23-25, 25-22, 15-13) to advance to the final. The team had earlier eliminated Uganda’s Sky VC in straight sets in the quarterfinals (25-13, 25-18, 25-13).
Kepler VC also secured a place in the final after a commanding straight-sets victory over Police VC (25-23, 25-16, 25-16). They had previously defeated Finance VC of Benin in the quarterfinals (25-22, 25-23, 25-22).
In the women’s category, APR WVC overcame Police WVC in a dramatic five-set comeback (16-25, 20-25, 25-20, 29-27, 15-9), while KPC WVC of Kenya defeated Kepler WVC in another tightly contested match (25-17, 21-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-9).
The tournament concludes on Sunday, June 21, with placement matches and finals across both categories.
The men’s third-place playoff will see REG VC face Police VC at 11:00 a.m. at Petit Stade, while Police WVC take on Kepler WVC in the women’s third-place match at 12:00 p.m. at NPC Gymnasium.
The women’s final between APR WVC and KPC WVC is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., followed by the men’s final between APR VC and Kepler VC at 4:30 p.m. Both finals will be held at Petit Stade, Remera.
