Rwanda’s representatives APR VC, Police VC, and Kepler VC delivered strong opening performances at the 2026 CAVB Men’s Club Volleyball Championship, while REG VC endured a difficult start on home soil.

The continental tournament, which began on April 22, 2026, is being hosted in Kigali, with APR VC setting an early tone for Rwandan clubs. The hosts opened their campaign in dominant fashion, sweeping aside Black Rhinos VC 3–0 (25–18, 25–10, 25–11) in a commanding display.

On Thursday, April 23, attention turned to the remaining Rwandan teams competing at BK Arena and Petit Stade. Two sides maintained momentum, while one faltered in tightly contested encounters.

Police VC produced a solid performance to defeat Tanzania’s Prisons VC 3–0 (25–15, 25–18, 25–17) at BK Arena, while Kepler VC also impressed, dispatching Côte d’Ivoire’s AS INJS 3–0 (25–20, 25–16, 25–21) at Petit Stade.

However, REG VC was unable to match that momentum, falling 3–0 to Cameroon’s Port Autonome de Douala in a closely fought match (26–24, 25–23, 25–23), despite competitive sets.

Elsewhere, continental heavyweights Al Ahly SC of Egypt—16-time champions—made a powerful statement, comfortably defeating Cameroon Sports Volleyball 3–0 (21–11, 25–16, 25–11) in their opening match of the 47th edition of the championship.

The tournament continues on Friday, April 24, 2026, with second-round group stage fixtures across Kigali.

Rwandan clubs will return to action with REG VC facing Rukinzo VC of Burundi at 4:00 PM at BK Arena. Police VC will meet Faith Union of Morocco at 6:00 PM, while APR VC takes on LITTO Team of Cameroon at 8:00 PM. Kepler VC will also play Uganda’s Sports-S at Petit Stade at 8:00 PM.
