APR WVC defeat Kepler WVC to boost title hopes in playoff opener

APR WVC secured a convincing victory over Kepler WVC in the opening match of the national volleyball championship finals, strengthening their chances of clinching the title.

The match was played on Wednesday at Petit Stade Amahoro in Kigali as the playoffs got underway.

APR WVC dominated the encounter from the start, comfortably taking the first set 25–16. They maintained control in the second set, winning 25–20 despite a brief resurgence from Kepler WVC led by Mario.

In the third set, Kepler attempted a comeback, but APR’s superior strength proved decisive, sealing the set 25–21 to complete a straight-sets victory.

The finals are played in a best-of-five series, with the first team to secure three wins crowned champions. APR’s opening win gives them a strong advantage heading into the remaining matches.

Earlier matches saw Kepler VC defeat Gisagara VC 3–1 in the men’s third-place playoff, while Police WVC beat RRA WVC 3–0 in the women’s category.

Minister of Sports Nelly Mukazayire attended the match.
