Mukura Victory Sports et Loisirs (Mukura VS&L) have secured the services of Ghanaian striker Agyenim Boateng Mensah for another season after the forward signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2027.
The extension was announced on Tuesday, July 28, bringing an end to uncertainty over the 29-year-old’s future after his previous deal expired at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.
Boateng joined Mukura from Ghanaian side Dreams FC in 2024 and has spent the past two seasons with the Huye-based club. Although the club had initially indicated that he would not return, the two parties have now agreed on fresh terms.
The announcement comes while the striker is in Rwanda representing Djibouti’s CF Garde Républicaine at the ongoing CECAFA Kagame Cup.
Garde Républicaine have already been eliminated from the competition after losing their opening two group-stage matches, including a 3-1 defeat to APR FC. The Djiboutian side has scored just once and conceded six goals in the tournament.
Boateng featured in 18 Rwanda Premier League matches during the 2025/26 season, scoring three goals and providing three assists. He also picked up two yellow cards.
Mukura will be counting on the Ghanaian to spearhead their attack next season following the departures of key attacking players Jordan Dimbumba, Hakizimana Zuberi and Iradukunda Elie “Tatou.”
The club has also retained winger Irumva Justin and strengthened its squad with the signing of Ugandan winger Freedom Mungudit from Lugazi FC as preparations for the 2026/27 campaign continue.
Mukura are currently training at Kamena Stadium while awaiting the completion of Huye Stadium. The club is also continuing its search for a new head coach after parting ways with Nshimiyimana Canisius. His intended successor, Tomáš Trucha, left before taking charge after accepting another coaching opportunity.
