CECAFA President Paulos Weldehaimanot Andemariam has arrived in Kigali as Rwanda prepares to host the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup, one of the region’s biggest club football tournaments.
The Eritrean football administrator touched down in Rwanda on Tuesday morning as final preparations continue ahead of the competition, which will run from July 24 to August 7, 2026.
Andemariam was received by FERWAFA Competitions Commissioner Désiré Niyitanga, who is also a member of the organising committee overseeing the tournament.
The 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup will be played at Amahoro Stadium and Kigali Pele Stadium, with 12 clubs from across East and Central Africa expected to compete for the regional title.
Rwanda will be represented by two clubs, APR FC and Rayon Sports, in the tournament that returns to the country for the first time since 2019.
The arrival of the CECAFA president comes as organisers step up preparations to ensure a successful tournament, which is expected to attract attention from football fans across the region.
