Rwanda’s Capital Market Authority (CMA Rwanda) has signed a partnership agreement with Nigeria-based Africa Prudential Plc to strengthen capital market operations, improve investor services and accelerate the adoption of digital technologies in the sector.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on August 6, 2026, seeks to enhance cooperation in areas including shareholder registry management, securities administration, investor identification and verification, data management, staff capacity building and the use of technology to deliver efficient financial services.

CMA Rwanda Chief Executive Officer Romeo Ngarambe said the partnership will allow Rwanda to benefit from Africa Prudential’s experience in providing technology-driven solutions for financial markets while supporting efforts to build a stronger and more competitive capital market.

“Working with institutions that have proven experience on the African continent will help us continue improving our capital market and strengthen services provided to investors,” Ngarambe said.

He added that the agreement will contribute to Rwanda’s ambition of developing a capital market that can compete internationally by leveraging innovation and digital solutions.

Africa Prudential Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Dr Catherine Nwosu said the partnership demonstrates the importance of collaboration among financial institutions in Africa to promote knowledge exchange and technology adoption.

She noted that digital transformation is critical in improving services offered to investors and shareholders while making financial markets more accessible and efficient.

Through the agreement, Africa Prudential will support CMA Rwanda in enhancing systems for managing shareholder information, adopting modern technologies and strengthening institutional capacity through training and knowledge sharing.

The partnership follows a working visit by a CMA Rwanda delegation to Nigeria in June 2026, led by Ngarambe, where officials visited Africa Prudential to learn from its experience in delivering digital solutions for capital market services.

During the visit, the delegation explored technologies used for virtual shareholder meetings, electronic voting, investor data management and mobile-based investment tracking.

The collaboration comes as Rwanda continues efforts to expand and modernise its capital market by increasing efficiency, strengthening investor confidence and embracing technology-driven financial services.
