Commissioner of Police Theos Badege, a former spokesperson of the Rwanda National Police, has been appointed Deputy Commissioner General of the Rwanda Correctional Service, in a move announced during the Cabinet meeting on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
CP Badege has held key leadership positions within the Rwanda National Police, including multiple terms as the institution’s spokesperson. In 2018, he was succeeded in that role by CP John Bosco Kabera.
Earlier in his career, Badege headed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which later became the Rwanda Investigation Bureau. He was promoted to Commissioner of Police in January 2018, having previously served as Assistant Commissioner of Police.
After his tenure as police spokesperson, he continued to take on senior responsibilities, including representing Rwanda in United Nations peacekeeping missions. Prior to his new appointment, he served at the General Secretariat of INTERPOL in Lyon, France.
