Sixty former Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA-Inkotanyi) soldiers who were injured during Rwanda’s liberation struggle have completed a two-day tour of major historical sites linked to the country’s liberation war.

The visit was organized as part of efforts to honor and recognize their sacrifice and contribution to the liberation of Rwanda.

The tour was facilitated by the Rwanda Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission.

During the visit, the veterans toured several symbolic sites that preserve the history of the liberation struggle, including Kagitumba, where the liberation war officially began in October 1990.

They also visited Nyabwishongwezi, Gikoba, Mulindi Jenoside Memorial, widely known as Mulindi w’Intwali, and Kaniga — areas considered significant landmarks in the history of the liberation struggle.

The tour formed part of broader efforts to preserve the legacy of Rwanda’s liberation journey while paying tribute to veterans whose sacrifices contributed to ending decades of hardship and laying the foundation for the country’s recovery and unity.
