The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has joined Rwandans in marking the 32nd commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, urging the football community to remain a strong pillar of unity and reconciliation.

In messages shared on its social media platforms on the evening of April 12, 2026, FERWAFA brought together reflections from players and officials within Rwandan football, emphasizing remembrance, unity and responsibility among the youth.

Striker Biramahire Abeddy said remembrance among young people strengthens a shared commitment to safeguarding unity, peace and national development.

Nshuti Innocent called on youth to remain vigilant against genocide denial and distortion, while defender Emery Bayisenge stressed that young people represent the future of the country and must actively contribute to building a Rwanda free from division.

FERWAFA President Fabrice Shema said commemorating the Genocide against the Tutsi is a collective responsibility, urging sports stakeholders to stand as pillars of unity and development.

The federation’s message followed a commemoration activity held on April 12, 2026, where FERWAFA staff joined residents of Remera Sector in paying tribute to victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, particularly those killed at Centre Christus.
