Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF-Inkotanyi) Deputy Secretary General Stephen Gasana has called for stronger community action against drug abuse and substandard alcoholic beverages, warning that the practices threaten Rwanda’s efforts to build a capable and responsible citizenry.
Gasana made the call during a general assembly of RPF-Inkotanyi members from the Southern Province, held at the party’s headquarters in Nyanza District.
The meeting was held under the theme, “A capable member who can safeguard the RPF-Inkotanyi’s vision for the next 30 years.”
Gasana commended RPF members in the Southern Province for their contribution to initiatives aimed at improving citizens’ livelihoods and supporting national development.
He urged them to remain committed to helping communities improve their living conditions and to promote a culture of identifying and addressing challenges through practical solutions.
Gasana reminded party members of the importance of delivering quality services and responding to citizens’ concerns wherever they arise.
He also encouraged members not to handle difficult challenges alone, urging them to seek support from fellow members and relevant institutions whenever necessary.
Gasana particularly called for coordinated efforts to combat drug abuse and the production and sale of substandard alcoholic beverages.
He said these problems undermine efforts to build citizens capable of analysing challenges affecting themselves, their families and the country, while actively contributing to finding solutions.
