Investors from Hong Kong, organized under the Hong Kong Chuangzhi Group, are in Rwanda to explore investment opportunities and strengthen business ties.
They met with Rwanda’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Prudence Sebahizi, and Rwanda’s Ambassador to China, James Kimonyo in Kigali on Wednesday January 7, 2026, to discuss potential areas of collaboration.
The visit follows an agreement signed in October 2025 between Hong Kong Chuangzhi Group and the Rwandan government. The deal aims to promote investment, eliminate double taxation, and simplify trade and business operations between Rwanda and Hong Kong.
Rwanda and China have enjoyed diplomatic relations for 54 years, with strong cooperation across trade, investment, healthcare, education, agriculture, and technology. China has consistently been one of Rwanda’s top sources of foreign investment, increasing from $280 million in 2020 to $460 million in 2024.
Last July, during a meeting with Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame, China’s new Ambassador to Rwanda, Gao Wenqi, reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to deepening economic ties with Rwanda. Both sides emphasized their shared goal of fostering mutual benefits for Rwandans and Chinese investors.
