Authorities in Huye District are searching for a man suspected of fatally attacking his elderly neighbor amid a domestic dispute.
The incident occurred in Nyesonga Village, Kibingo Cell, Karama Sector. The suspect, 37-year-old Habimana Jean de Dieu, known locally as Nyiramuhari, reportedly argued with his wife at home. When a 70-year-old neighbor intervened to help, Habimana allegedly attacked him with a machete, causing fatal injuries.
Southern Province police spokesperson CIP Kamanzi Hassan said the injured man was rushed to a hospital but died shortly afterward.
CIP Kamanzi confirmed that the suspect remains at large, with police working alongside local residents and other security agencies to locate him.
Authorities have urged citizens to avoid violent actions and immediately report conflicts to local authorities or the police, emphasizing that such acts are punishable under Rwandan law.
